We would like to thank those of you who attended our final concert of the 9th Series earlier this month. John Irving’s programme of solo keyboard sonatas by three of the giants of the classical era: Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, played on fortepiano was a great way to end our season.
2016-17 has been a very successful season for Music in New Malden. In 2016 we formalised operations, establishing a constitution, electing officials, opening a community bank account and offering membership with voting-rights to every individual on our mailing-list (yes – YOU!). Our first General Meeting was held on 12 February 2017 when a Committee was elected; details of our next General Meeting will be circulated in due course.
Thank you for contributing to our retiring collections. We raised over £2000 this year, and your generosity has positioned the performers’ expenses fund on a secure footing for next season, ensuring a continued high-level line-up.
Plans for our 10th Series to mark a decade of vibrant, accessible and exciting music-making are well underway!
Earlier this year we submitted a funding proposal to Kingston Borough Council’s New Initiatives Fund. The grant would support a strategic expansion of our activity offsite, in the form of satellite concerts (in Raleigh House Dementia Day Care Centre, and Burlington Junior School) ideally to be timed to coincide with concerts in the main series in 2017-18. We are pleased to announce that MiNM have been awarded a grant of £2976 to develop these satellite concerts and expand our outreach further!
As we approach our landmark 10th Series (2017-18), we hope to embark on a more varied and extensive programme and hope that you will continue to join us on the journey. A BIG thank you to every member for your continued support; we look forward to updating you on the 10th Series (with more tea and cake… of course!) very soon.
We hope you have a wonderful summer.
With all best wishes,
Music in New Malden
