We were treated to an unusual programme of baroque duos for violins this afternoon – engagingly presented by Duo Realia – winners of the 2015 Trinity Laban Early Music Competition.
Beatriz Carbonel and Kieran Burling presented “Duo Realia’s Travels”, exploring works for the two-violin combination by Telemann (his ‘Lilliput Suite’, which picturesquely portrays Gulliver’s Travels in music brilliantly characterised for the instruments), Leclair, Fesch, Vierdanck Pla and Tessarini – much of it largely unknown, but well worth a hearing, especially as presented by our talented young performers! Proceeds (near to £200) to the Royal National Institute for the Blind.
