We had a fantastic time on 16 March with the first of our series of masterclasses for talented young musicianship. Five young pianists from the area played music by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Beethoven and Ravel, expertly coached by Julian Hellaby.
We are able to offer this series due to a generous donation recently received from an audience member. At a time when music provision is being progressively removed from the school curriculum, opportunities such as these, for young people to work with world-class experts in musical performance, are more valuable than ever.
We hope to offer similar sessions in future for string and wind players (and perhaps a second piano Masterclass – since the event on 16 March was seriously oversubscribed!).
