Our Series 16 proved a highly successful one, with a pleasing return to consistently healthy audience numbers at our concerts.
We offered a wide variety of repertoire, spanning several centuries, and encompassing a range of genres. We featured professional soloists and chamber groups, talented up-and-coming young performers, and local Community groups, as is our declared remit.
Membership numbers likewise continue to be healthy, and our concert mailings go out to almost 500 recipients.
At the General Meeting in September 2023, (which included for the first time a musical epilogue given by two exceptional young players covering four different instruments between them), we confirmed appointment of the Management Committee: Jane Booth (Chair); John Irving (Deputy Chair); Peter Bullett (Treasurer); Alison Bullett: and Min-young Bae (co-opted); the annual report and finances were also presented and approved.
A special mention is due to Dr Peter Bullett, our Treasurer, who continues to go above and beyond the call of duty in administering our events behind the scenes, and keeps a tight rein on our (mercifully healthy) finances! Robert and Caroline Auty continue to do splendid work with our Social Media. Thanks also to the teams who provide our regular post-concert Tea & Cake!!!!
As ever, we record formally our grateful thanks to New Malden Methodist Church, and especially the Minister, Dr Karl Rutlidge for their generous support of our work to keep live classical music-making thriving locally. Alongside a very successful Lunchtime Concert series in the church, we think we are making a significant cultural contribution.
We look forward to our 2024-25 Series 17 (which is now completely filled with – we trust – an attractive range of concerts, starting with a celebrity Piano recital in October and including on the way a vocal duo, a visit from Tiffin Girls’ School, a Saxophone Quartet and ending in June 2025 with a celebrity Organ recital to usher in the summer sunshine.
